Get hands-on training in building and home maintenance at UAF. In the facility maintenance program, you’ll gain the skills to deal with challenges unique to rural ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ structures, learning from professionals with decades of practical experience. Your training will include customizing solutions to a building or home, working with community advocates, and developing strategies for future maintenance needs.
Who Is the Facility Maintenance Program Designed For?
This program is designed to train rural ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ns for jobs in the maintenance of facilities and family home maintenance, with a focus on ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ building practices for northern climates.
What is facility maintenance?
Facility maintenance involves keeping buildings, systems and appliances in good working condition by carrying out routine service and repairs. While facility management typically refers to commercial building maintenance, these skills can also apply to home and non-commercial property as well.
How is the facility maintenance program delivered?
Facility maintenance courses are offered through an in-person, intensive cohort in Fairbanks each semester. Based on interest and request, we also can also bring facility maintenance training directly to rural communities throughout ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥.
