ABEC Mariculture Innovation Research Fund RFP

The ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Blue Economy Center is soliciting proposals for applied mariculture research funding. Projects must be conducted in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ by University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ faculty and staff who have partnered with mariculture industry stakeholders on applied research. The maximum award is $200,000. The following project categories have been identified as priority opportunities for development of the mariculture industry in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥. Applicants with projects of relevance are encouraged to apply:

  • Integration of macroalgae mariculture into salmon hatchery operations
  • Innovations in commercial Nereocystis sp. farming
  • Innovations in macroalgae processing
  • Shellfish stock/fishery enhancement

Proposals must be emailed to abec.grants@alaska.edu with the subject line: “MIRF: (project title).â€

The first review of submissions will take place for proposals submitted by 11:59 p.m. (ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥) on Monday, May 22, 2023. Subsequent submissions will be reviewed quarterly on a rolling basis until the fund has been fully awarded.
