Student Advisory Council
The College of Business and Security Management’s Student Advisory Council was formed in 2008 to provide opportunities for College of Business and Security Management students to voice their opinions on the direction of the school. The Student Advisory Council is a liaison between CBSM students and the CBSM dean.
The 2024-2025 SAC members are listed below with the group they are representing.
Lainey Appel was born and raised in Shingle Springs, California. They are currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting and plan to become a CPA. Lainey is a Recruiting Officer with GAAP, president of the Chinese Language and Culture Club, and treasurer for the Aurora Aerial Arts Club. Lainey works as a student assistant for the UAF Office of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Relations. In their spare time, Lainey enjoys expressing themself creatively through activities such as costume building, writing, and crocheting.
Jaime Jones is a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in business administration and general management. She was born and raised in Fairbanks and grew up in Utqiagvik, ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥. Her hobbies include camping, fishing, hiking, traveling, and photography. Jaime also volunteers her time while serving on several different boards for the Fairbanks Children's Museum and Fairbanks Prevention Alliance.
Gus is from Fairbanks and is currently a senior in the Accounting program at UAF. With his sights set on graduating in the fall of 2025, he will further his academic journey via UAF's MBA program. Post-graduation, Gus envisions a career in public accounting within his hometown, striving to achieve CPA certification within the next two years. Beyond these professional pursuits, his long-term goals involve venturing into the realm of car-related businesses. A dedicated car enthusiast, Gus balances his passions for ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥, and gardening when not immersed in the demands of work and academia.
Louinese Brave is a first-generation student and a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in finance. She was born and raised in The Bahamas and lives on the beautiful islands of Nassau. She loves learning all things accounting and adapting to the changes that come with it. She loves the outdoors and spends most of her free time participating in community runs, taking tennis lessons, going to the gym, propagating a new plant or simply assisting with community cleanups. She believes that if we take care of our bodies and environment, they will definitely take good care of us in return. This past august 2023 she participated in a spartan race and came third in her age category. She is currently the secretary for the Great ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥n Accounting People club (GAAP). Even though she is a distant student she enjoys the comradery it builds by being a part of a club and she continues to seek other ways to remain active within the university. She is set to graduate in spring 2024 and plans to continue her education in UAF's master’s program in cybersecurity.
Jayda Van Dyke is a student-athlete majoring in Business Administration with a specialization in finance. She loves to spend her time on the basketball court and in the classroom learning about business. She hails from Herriman, Utah so she loves a good mountain hike.
Steph Wilke is from Savannah, GA which is where she graduated from Armstrong, now known as Georgia Southern University, with a Bachelors in Nursing in 2008. In 2009, she landed her dream job working in a large Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. In 2011, she joined the US Air Force Reserves as a Critical Care Air Transport Nurse and eventually became the CCATT Team Chief for the 622nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron. Eventually she met her husband, who is also a student at UAF, in New Mexico, where they were married. In 2019, they got orders to Eielson AFB. My husband started school at UAF after retiring and inspired Steph to complete her Master’s in Healthcare Management and Leadership. Both of them are set to graduate in Spring 2025!
