The UAF Center for One Health Research's International Conference, One Health, One Future 2023, is accepting abstract and poster submissions until Oct. 17. Once submitted, the materials will be reviewed by the UAF One Health, One Future Planning Team. You will be notified of the decision no later than Tuesday, Nov. 1. You are allowed to apply for both an abstract and a poster, but we request that you create two separate applications.

Student Health and Counseling launches winter wellness program

The Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) wants to help you prepare for the upcoming winter so that you can enjoy your time in Fairbanks while avoiding the dreaded "winter blues." SHCC has come up with an eight-week preparedness program dedicated to helping students plan for the potential emotional and social hardships that can come with the colder and darker months.

UAF making the switch to Canvas LMS

After a successful pilot in the 20-21 academic year followed by the adoption of Canvas in 2021-22 by the majority of our faculty, UAF is transitioning to Canvas as its new Learning Management System (LMS). Today, more than 77 percent of UAF LMS courses are being taught in Canvas. A big thank you to the faculty who have already made the transition and the staff who supported the faculty to make the switch.

Launch of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native Claims Settlement Act Project Jukebox

In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) in December 1971, the UAF Oral History Program has just launched the Project Jukebox online interactive website that combines oral history recordings, film, photos and documents to tell the story behind the fight for passage of ANCSA, its role in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥'s history, and its legacy.

Month of Writing events planned for October

Caught in a major storm, UAF researchers make the best of it

On St. Paul Island, in the Bering Sea about 300 miles from ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥â€™s coast, the still-powerful remains of Typhoon Merbok passed overhead, churning up the ocean and rolling across the landscape on a path to the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ mainland. As the storm hit the small island, three ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ researchers, two graduate students and a filmmaker went out for a look.

Convocation scavenger hunt details

Nanooks Hockey opens preseason with Blue and Gold games
